I'm so excited to share all the things about this next Senior! He holds a special place in my heart because he moved into our neighborhood when he was seven years old and he and my son became buds who loved American Ninja Warrior, playing basketball, and being adventurous little boys!
Kyson is academically minded and has put his heart and soul into learning, growing, and doing his best in every subject. He has taken several AP classes and is a member of the National Honor Society, which requires excellent grades and a lot of service. All of this hard work has earned him a spot in the top twenty members of his graduating class.
Most of all, though, Kyson has worked extremely hard in a subject that requires hours upon hours, weeks upon weeks, and months upon months of hard work and dedication. He has been a member of the Johnson High School Marching Band for the past four years, serving as the Section
Leader for two years and Captain for one. He plays the sousaphone in the marching band and tuba in the concert band. He has participated in numerous competitions in and outside of Texas, helping his band win many prestigious awards and honors along the way.
All of these accomplishments within high school are very impressive on their own, but Kyson has also been involved in service and work outside of school. He has served as the secretary of the Stake Youth Council for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he not only helped plan and implement activities throughout the year for over 300 youth, but also took a personal interest in serving and ministering to his peers in many ways. One way he served his peers is by creating and conducting an orchestra for a talent show for the youth, giving many others an opportunity to share their talents and showing a lot of leadership and maturity. He also created a volleyball league for others in the high school community to gather and have fun!
If all of this weren't enough to keep any high schooler busy, Kyson found time to hold down a part-time job at Chick-Fil-A, rounding out his accomplishments by managing his time and learning to be a good employee. He has definitely spent his time well in the last four years!
Kyson was admitted to several Universities in different states, but his first choice is the University of Utah where he received a Presidential Scholarship. Wherever he attends, he will study premed to become an anesthesiologist beginning in Fall of 2025 after he serves a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, giving his time to sharing the gospel for the next two years.
It is obvious that Kyson is an amazing young man, and there aren't many people more qualified to describe him like his mom. She said, "Kyson is a gem. He is so self-driven and motivated that we've never had to tell him to do his work or force him to school on time. He's had perfect attendance since 6th grade! He is so funny and sarcastic, great with kids and adults alike, and loves to make sure everyone feels included and loved. We are so grateful to have him in our family!"
I'm not sure there is much more that I could add to that as his actions and accomplishments speak for themselves! Congratulations, Kyson!
